The design on this plate is inspired the Syrian Iznik tradition. Using a stylised form typical to that seen in Iznik-ware, Yasmin Hayat depicts the famous flowers of Syria - the Damascene rose, The Jasmine and the small heavily perfumed flower known as ‘ful’ (also known as Arabic Jasmine or as the Grand duke of Tuscany) and uses a colour palette typical to that of Syria Iznikware.
